Our nation's transportation infrastructure - our highways and roadways, our railroads and transit lines, our waterways and ports, and our airports - enables Americans to travel from city to city worldwide; enables American businesses to create value and jobs from city to city, region to region, country to country; and enables American businesses to ship materials and goods across the continent and across the globe.

Our nation's economy depends on people travel safely to and from their jobs, to and from their everyday destinations. Our nation's economy depends on trucks and trains and ships and planes traveling great distances safely and cleanly to keep our lifeblood of commerce pumping. And in this time of global uncertainty, our nation's economy depends on a secure transportation infrastructure that ensures that people, goods and services arrive at their destinations as intended.

America on the Move is a coalition of business and labor that is concerned about how our nation invests in transportation infrastructure to reap the greatest economic, environmental, safety, and social benefits.

America on the Move is a voice for the economic development and environmental enhancements that improving transportation can deliver.

As Congress focuses on the next round of federal transportation reauthorization, America on the Move is working to:

• Inform Congress and the Administration about how importatnt adequate investment in transportation is to maintaining and expanding the U.S. economy.
• Demonstrate how incremental investment in major transportation corridors in key trade states can enhance the nation's economy, security and environment.
• Support flexible approaches to both the funding and financing of projects so that needed transportation improvements can be completed on time and on budget.

The members of America on the Move believe that the nation's large, complex and economically necessary projects can be built by employing flexible and innovative corridor planning, funding, environmental enhancement, and implementation strategies. The mission of America on the Move is not to support one project or another but to support the best planning, funding, and implementation strategies that will improve transportation nationwide.
